Following an initial successful rollout at the Eden Medical Group Practice in Carlisle, North Cumbria Primary Care is expanding its partnership with Anima. A broader programme is now planned across the organisation, committed to embedding Anima’s triage and document workflow platform.
With ~100,000 patient list size across six practices, the investment will support North Cumbria Primary Care as it responds to increasing demand within general practice. The programme is designed to:
Support practices create consistent access routes,
Reduce avoidable manual administration, and
Give teams the tools needed to manage patient demand safely and efficiently.
Across similar rollouts, Anima has supported practices to increase document coding capacity by 3x and resolve the majority of triage requests on the same day. This investment will bring that same operational impact across North and West Cumbria.
Following the Eden rollout, they will move into a phased implementation across additional sites, including Fell View, James Street, Warwick Square and Workington. Document workflow will form a key part of the programme, supporting teams manage scanning, coding and onward tasking more consistently as secondary care document volumes continue to place pressure on practice teams.

As demand continues to increase, we must provide our colleagues the right tools to work consistently across the organisation in support of our patients.
This next phase is about embedding triage and document workflow at scale, creating efficiencies from manual processes, and supporting our practices to keep pace with the operational pressures they are facing.
The expanded partnership will also support North Cumbria Primary Care's adoption of a standardised operating model across practices, with implementation aligned to each site’s go-live plan and local workflow requirements.
The programme reflects a wider shift across primary care towards platform-based operating models, where access, triage and workflow are brought together rather than managed through fragmented point solutions.
